Kindergarten QuestionaireThe more they stay the same. Seriously.

Below is a scan of a questionaire filled out by some teacher’s aide when I was in Kindergarten. Obviously, that’s not my handwriting. However — those answers are SO me.

First of all, let me just say I went back through my entire childhood this past week/weekend due to my trip to Nashville. Not because I grew up in Nashville (I didn’t), but because when I went to pick up my long separated from me piano, I also got a desk, some records (thanks, Ev!) and boxes. Boxes of memories. Mom really didn’t throw a lot away and now, for the first time in my life, I’m actually grateful. Granted – there’s the dairy (holy crap.), the bad art, the bad poetry, the attempts at drawing, etc. But then there’s also report cards (”Billy talks too much in class”) and things like the questionaire, giving me glimpses into that whole Nurture vs Nature debate.

You know what? We’re stinkin’ wired from the womb out. I’ll give that yes, indeed, there are times when nurture has a great affect on who we are as adults, but in terms of inate characteristics that just do NOT go away — I think this is is somewhat of a proof that nature could just give a damn what nurture does.

To wit, take note of questions #3, #6 (especially part B!!), the combo of #11 and #12, and last, but not least, #19.

Some things. Never. Change.
